Natural gas is renewable energy’s best friend. It was determined in  Kansas, in direct comparison with the most optimistic priced, new and state of the art coal plant, that a hybrid of synchronized high capacity wind, and gas generation would reduce overall carbon by 80%

That was a clear demonstration that with adequate natural gas supplies to mirror the wind the Levelized Cost Of Energy (LCOE) over 20 years would be 30% lower than coal could ever hope to be.

The situation this article highlights is that the days of gas scarcity are gone, and hybrid “baseload” facilities are the future.
